Mount Kailash is considered sacred by millions of religious believers. Remaining unspoiled, it is said to be the dwelling of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain divinities. Each June when the moon is full, hundreds of pilgrims undertake a Dantesque pilgrimage to climb this mountain, over 5,000 meters in height. They also circle the mountain for several days, attaining purification.
