Belharra the Monstrous
Off the coast of Saint-Jean-de-Luz there exists a mythical wave, the wave of Belharra. This bête noire of fishermen has become the stomping ground for surfers searching for the ultimate challenge. At more than 10 meters high and travelling at over 60 km/h, it’s one of the world’s most dangerous phenomenons. Appearing just once a year, surfers need to be patient and crazy in equal measure if they are to pit themselves against this monster of water, foam and spray. Benjamin Sanchis is from the Basque Country and a pro in the world of extreme surfing. He will bring us up-close and personal with this terrifying beauty.
