Eïlat / Aqaba
Synopsis
As an extension of the Red Sea and a cul de sac, the Gulf of Aqaba was always considered an inland sea by the Arabs, until 1948 and the creation of the State of Israel. Since then the Israeli town of Eilat sits across from the Jordanian town of Aqaba. They are two different worlds living side by side without knowing each other, and the peace treaty between Israel and Jordan in 1994 did little to change the feelings they have for one another. For things to change, they would have to be able to spend time together. Only 7 kilometers of sea separate the two towns, but Israeli fishermen have never seen a single Jordanian on the water…
