Giants in the dry dock.
Synopsis
In the harbour at Brest there is a spectacular place that gives no indication of it’s grandeur when seen from the ground. All we see are a collection of cranes, but sometimes appearances can be deceptive. You need to get a little higher or a little closer to uncover the distinct universe of a shipyard dry-dock. Here, nothing is build, only repaired; petrol tankers, liquefied gas tankers, ocean liner. These shipyards comprise three dry docks included the largest in the world, 420 meters long and 80 meters wide. Here, everything is off the scale. But the most unusual thing about this place is that the men working there do things as disproportionate as the their surroundings. But for them, its all in a day’s work.
