Synopsis

Ishmael Guilliorit has a handsome face, lots of charisma, and a missing leg. This film portrait of the thirty-four year-old founder of an Association called Vagdespoir – ‘wave of hope’- tells a remarkable story. Ishmael is an amputee who has not only become a great surfer but has done everything possible to help others with disabilities discover the thrill of sliding sports. He reckons that life is meant to be lived to the full, even when it begins with a remarkable accumulation of hassles. With his physique and his way of putting things he imposes a different way of seeing disabled people. He wants to offer them the possibility of happiness without limits. What interests Ishmael and his mates at Vagdespoir is not sporting success, but the sparkle in the eyes of someone who goes beyond the limits imposed on them…
