Nyima and the Porters
Nyima Sherpa is just one face in the crowd of a thousand porters. Accompanied by two young boys, she walks from village to village, selling merchandise from her bulging basket. She has never seen Mount Everest. Walking from valley to pass, crossing rivers and stopping in hostels, Nyima gets fresh supplies and puts all the energy of her 16 years into the commercial maelstrom that revolves around Everest. Nyima Sherpa is just one face in the crowd of thousands of porters, their simple lives a story of work and fatigue, never far from heroism. Urchins staggering under loads exceeding their own weight, the porters climb to the top of Everest each day.
