Scientists have begun investigating, turning their attention to microplastics. This tiny particles, toxic and often invisible to the naked eye play host to a new ecosystem: The ‘Plastisphere’. The effects of these micro beads are poorly understood but threaten both health and the environment. But where are they? Eaten by animals? At the bottom of the oceans? Degraded by microbes?
